It starts within. It starts with how we think about the things we're complaining about. 

When we shift from, "I am a victim of life" to "Life doesn't happen TO me, it happens FOR me," we experience radical freedom.

When we complain, we're giving away our power. By complaining, we stop ourselves from taking the action needed to improve that area of our lives. 

Complaining is a toxin in our bodies and minds. When we complain, there's an underlying assumption that we can't do anything about it, except grumble.

This is never true.

We have the ability to make change in every area of life.

My Story

Awhile back, I noticed I was complaining quite a bit. I felt tired, and I didn’t have my usual creative output. Surprisingly (for me) I didn’t complain to everyone in my life- but mostly to my husband. The man I want to spend the most time having deep, connected conversations with, with whom I’m daily building a relationship of respect, admiration and trust. Why would I spend so much of our precious conversation complaining?

I decided to put myself on a complaint-free diet.

I put a rubber band on my wrist, and snapped it each time I caught myself. To be clear- this is not to “abuse” myself for complaining, but to bring awareness to myself, and to associate complaining with discomfort- instead of riding on the passive-aggressive “satisfaction” I would get from complaining. 

And, wow.

Just this little shift in my life brought me powerfully back to the present. My energy is better and more consistent. My creativity returned. I noticed so many places where I was handing my power over to complaints… and took them back!

It’s empowering to live complaint-free- and no, I’m not 100% perfect. But taking the challenge for myself has shown me exactly where my energy was going, so I could get it back. And of course the things I was complaining about changed- because I channeled my complaining energy to creative energy, and fixed it.

I’m so grateful for this shift that I created a free 14-day challenge for you. I’d love to know how your life changes after 14 days of awareness around complaining, and the creativity that will begin to flow for you when you turn towards what you do want, instead of what you don’t.

What if I massively fail, and complain a lot during the challenge?

If you stop yourself from complaining even once during the next 14 days, I consider you a roaring success. 

Any change we desire needs to be consistently practiced in order for our brains to wire differently, for our bodies to physically receive the new instruction and execute it flawlessly. In the challenge, I walk you through the type of mental exercise Olympic athletes use to train their minds for success. This is a practice, and just like Olympic athletes must show up every day, you will not become excellent in one day- but over several days, several weeks of daily encouraging yourself and choosing loving thoughts over complaints, you will find gold.

How will this be delivered?

Every day for 14 days, you'll receive an email from me. The emails will have daily reminders to stick with it, inspiration for your journey, and training to keep you focused. You'll be encouraged to share your journey with friends and family to help encourage you and stay on track. Use #complaintfreechallenge to share on social media. 

How does it work?

You'll create a physical reminder for the challenge, to keep it forefront in your mind and bring you back to your body when you catch yourself complaining. 

The basics: 

Put a rubber band on your wrist

Snap it if you complain

Alternatively, wear a bracelet on one wrist, and switch it to the other arm if you complain. Record how long the bracelet stays in one place.

Along with this physical practice, we'll walk through many mental and emotional shifts that will allow you to reinforce your new habit of living complaint-free.
